About Perch Lake Township:

Perch Lake Township is located in Northern Carlton County in Minnesota, immediately west of Cloquet, and entirely within the boundaries of the Fond Du Lac Indian Reservation. We have a population of 991 and maintain 22.23 miles of roadway. We have fishing, camping, and boating opportunities on Big Lake. Our residents enjoy the benefits of living in a rural area close to Cloquet and Duluth.

History of Perch Lake Township:

Perch Lake Township was reorganized in 1976. The first organizational meeting was on September 13, and the first regular meeting was September 20, 1976. Our first Town Board included Sonja DeRusha (Clerk), Alice Spoor (Treasurer), David Erickson (Supervisor), Ahti Kantonen (Supervisor), and Bill Dems (Chairman). The first annual meeting on March 8, 1977. The population was 464 according to the 1970 Census, and the current Town Hall was built in 1979.
